Donkey River Nature Co-op
A STEM-based, nature-centered learning community where kids learn by digging, growing, observing, and discovering — on a real working farm.
Our small group meets twice a week on our family farm, offering a peaceful, meaningful alternative to traditional classroom learning — rooted in curiosity, connection, and creativity.
The whole farm is a living laboratory
Donkey River Nature Co-op is a farm-based STEM program for children ages 5–15, nestled on ~30 acres in Liberty, South Carolina. We're a real, working family farm — home to donkeys, dairy cows, goats, chickens, ducks, and more.
Here, science isn't something you read in a textbook. It's something you dig up, grow, observe, and discover. Children explore microbiology through soil and fermentation, study life cycles with real farm animals, investigate ecosystems in our gardens and ponds, and learn the chemistry behind turning raw milk into butter — every day wrapped in fresh air and wonder.
